Love this place! It's one of our stops every year while on vacation. Clean, fun, and cold beer...

I wanted to try a place that didn't have steps since I'm on crutches. The wait staff was very helpful. They made sure we had a booth to keep my foot raises and put my crutches out of the way. I had the Bacon and Ranch Grilled Chicken Wrap with some banging mixed baked beans. My sweetie has the Saint Augustine Shrimp over Linguini. The platter was full of large shrimp served with garlic bread. The food was Hot and Filling. We ended with a baked cheesecake that was to die for. Our server was knowledgable of the menu and he was the only male server. He had a great smile. Thanks for A Most Enjoyable Meal' Red Frog and McToads has live music. It set the mood for a wonderful dinner.

The first time we stopped here was because I liked the funky name and appearance. The next time will be because the food is great. I can only talk about breakfast because that was the meal we were her to eat. I had the 1 egg special - over easy, with cheese grits and the waitress offered to substitute sliced tomato for the biscuit when I said 'no bread.' Mike had a huge western omelet with a generous side of hash browns. Also had the slices of tomato instead of toast. Excellent service and ass kicking coffee - strong but not bitter. This place is funky and has great food. It's in a strip mall along A1A.

I always have to wonder when I see a place with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 star reviews. Here's my story.... I went in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon during what appeared to be an unexpected rush. As I walked in, the waitress/hostess was scowling and speaking harshly to an elderly couple. After being seated, a waitress told us they were down a waitress so we'd have to wait, while at the same time the bartender was chatting with a visiting friend who wasn't even eating or drinking. After 15 minutes we begged for menus and finally got 4 for our party of 7. Although I knew it was a mistake, I ordered an appetizer and of course it came a full 50 seconds before my meal. Overall the food was not bad, it just wasn't very good. Someone had seen this place on the internet as THE PLACE for a fish sandwich..it was okay but nothing to recommend to anyone and the pork sandwich was very dry. The decor is a typical Florida sports bar with plain wooden tables, chairs and greasy menus. Since it's in a strip mall with zero views, I'd say go to any of the other places in St. Augustine beach that at least have a view and waitresses that pretend to not hate their customers.

Haven't been here since it was Finnegans. Was not expecting much at all (Finnegans wasn't that great) but their breakfast until noon on Sunday lured me in. The lobster and shrimp eggs Benedict was awesome. Yolks perfectly runny. The hashbrown casserole was probably 900 calories but worth every bite. My husband enjoyed his sausage hash. Service was great. Tea was weak. Will definitely be back.

After passing this place many times, we finally had an opportunity to stop in for breakfast. I'm so glad that we did! We each got the Sunrise Special: two pancakes, two pieces of bacon, two sausage links, and two eggs, plus a choice of hashbrowns, home fries or grits, and a choice of toast, English muffin or biscuit. The over medium eggs were cooked perfectly (which she wouldn't think would be a difficult thing, but in general is almost always a failure!), the bacon was perfectly done, the sausage was tasty, the hashbrowns were good if a little undercooked, and the biscuit was mammoth! Light, fluffy and delicious! The pancakes were almost *too* light and fluffy, if that can be a real thing. I think I just like mine with a little more density, although they were perfectly browned. Maybe I just need to get mine with chocolate chips inside next time! Altogether, a great place for breakfast! Service was casual, quick, and friendly, and we were never left wanting for coffee! Well done!

Went here on a random Tuesday in early August. We had good service and good food. Was it the best food ever, no....but it was presented well with good flavor. Definitely a sports bar and seemed to accommodate all ages (had our young kids with us)

Fla. Usa Weird location, prices OK food OK waitress was nice, good beer choices. As for the food , got the fish n Chips they were a little dry , got pizza and was over cooked not bad just a little overdone, also got the chicken bacon wrap and was a hit with the kid. Could be a fun place but it was dead.

This place is legit. My boyfriend and I first tried their food at The Taste of St. Augustine in 2014.. Their seafood queso was the best thing there. Over a year later and we are spending the weekend in St. Augustine for my 30th birthday.. We went to Redfrog & McToads for lunch and good god, it's delicious. The seafood queso is still the best thing on the planet. We also got the chicken bombers with the bourbon glaze and THOSE were incredible too! One round of shrimp and Mahi Mahi tacos later and I'm in love. I liked it so much I bought a t shirt! Visit this restaurant!!!!

Dropped in during Celtic fest weekend to avoid the crowds and it was really good! Great menu with lots of selection, good drink options also. Only complaint was my frozen daquiri was practically melted cause our server forgot about it. No biggie! I got the double decker shrimp tacos blackened and they were so good. Baja sauce is delicious and the friends are the best fries ever. Go eat there. Its a fun yummy environment!

Excellent breakfast. Hash brown casserole is a must have. Eggs cooked just right (soft scrambled). Bacon and sausage tasty and cooked perfect as well. Pancakes superb. Service was prompt and friendly. Nothing at all negative to say.

Our second stop here, great service, fun sports themed atmosphere, love it. Had the bombers appetizer with the bourbon wing glaze, highly recommended. For dinneri had the chicken philly, my kids had the blackened chicken sandwich and turkeydinner. All were delicious, would goback againfor sure.

Despite their web page saying call in orders for to go are welcome, I was told they're too busy to bother (my word) with take out orders. Used to be a favorite.

Stopped in for breakfast while returning from vacation. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was "ok". Menu is a bit confusing but all-in-all a decent breakfast. A bit pricey though - $30 for two people.

Just finished breakfast. Service: Excellent (Sarah) Food: Good to very good. Lots of TVs, every one of them on a different channel. Good atmosphere, not bar-like not restaurant-like but somewhere in the middle. Everything was cooked very well except the pancakes were just so-so. Not a pancake connoisseur, however, they were missing something. Light and fluffy as they should be and large as I expected but again, just kind of boring. Nice place, very clean, would we return? You bet.

Had dinner there last night. My wife had the peel and eat shrimp, which we good but were small. A lot of work for small reward. I had the french dip sandwich, which was just ok. The as jus was cold, as was the beef. The restaurant was packed, and we were seated next to a large group of teen aged surfers. They were loud, somewhat rude and threw items at each other. Did not do much for the decorum. My wife and I both ordered appetizers, a bowl of Minorcan Chowder for her and mozzarella sticks for me. We were surprised that they were served at the same time our entree came out. The waitress apologized, saying she had put the order in correctly but could not do anything to correct it. Sorry, kind of disappointed, but this was a Saturday (early evening) and they were busy. Still think they could have done a better job.

Stopped for lunch. The worst hamburger I ever had. The bun was stale, meat was dry and no flavor. Don't waste your money or time. If they can't cook a simple hamburger I would not risk ordering anything more complicated. Illinois vacationer

  • Tammie V.

Service was good. Food was okay. We tried the fried pickles and onion rings. I had a jalapeno & cheddar burger, Ray had the 1/2 rack ribs with fries and cole slaw. Nothing special just ok. Would I come back? Probably not.

  • Kim T.

Atmosphere is great. Food is pretty good but a bit expensive for that type of place. There also seems to be some confusion among the staff as to whether or not they take reservations. We stopped in one morning to make reservations for 10 for that evening which seemed to be no problem until we got there at our designated time and they said they don't take reservations! Humm, they had that morning! Not too big of a deal, didn't have to wait long.

Personal flatbread pizza was fresh and tasty! Sara, the server was gracious and attentive even though she had lots of customers. I plan to return.

    (5)
  • Jason B.

Well how to start? The atmosphere is sports bar meets old Florida strip mall. The wait staff was able to deliver the food, and the food could not have been more greasy if it came from the varsity in Atlanta during late night. That all would have been fine if it did not cost at least 2 times as much as a decent place would have. Never again!

    (1)
  • Jennifer L.

Really good food. Pretty presentation of all dishes. Definitely recommend the shrimp queso as an appetizer and the bruschetta pizza. Gave it a four star because the service was a bit slow. No outdoor dining, which is a bummer at the beach. Great for a leisurely night of good dining.

  • Masha S.

We had stopped here for breakfast this morning and we were quite happy with the service and the food. Lots of options to choose from. Our waitress was very friendly. And the food was great! A very decent american style breakfast! It was clean and cozy inside. $20 for two with 2 coffees!

  • Laura E.

Waited an hour after we ordered to be told they ran out of fresh lobster the special of the day. Waitress promised to comp our meals and a round of drinks but didn't comp anything except the lobster. It was a 3 hour ordeal and the food was definitely not worth waiting for. I didn't appreciate my waitress smiling at me while lying to my face. I paid the bill and didn't complain. When visiting Florida...don't visit McToads.

  • Michael F.

When we walked into the restaurant, the hostess was in the back and we waited about 10 minutes until we could ask a passing waitress for help. The hostess came out shortly and seated us and we waited another 10 minutes while we were totally ignored, the staff seemed very unfriendly. No one smiled or showed much personality. The menu had so many different items such as Greek, Mexican, fried fish, and pizza that it was confusing. Maybe they were short staffed that evening but we walked out after such poor service.

    (2)
  • Amanda E.

Seated right away. Waitress unattentive. Almost an hour for an appetizer. Food was disorganized. No apologies for one of the worst places I've had service at.

  • Robert C.

Listening to the Beetles sing HELP while devouring what's left of my Sunshine Sampler washing it all down with a Bloody Mary. Wife complained that pancakes taste like cake mix but everything else was good including the service and wonderful display of vintage photographs many of them autographed including Johnny Cash's shirt!

Red frog is a neat place to eat. There are televisions every where!!!!! Great on a Saturday or Sunday. Very happy to see a new lunch menu because it's a much better Size portion for me!!!! Thank you. Service is always good and food is always good too. Their clam chowder is excellent and my husband says the red chowder is very good. Give Red Frog a try!!!!!

    (4)
  • Jeremy T.

Shrimp is frozen and awful. Garlic potatoes are more than likely instant potatoes. The wrap is more tortilla than filling. I normally don't post on yelp unless it's really good or really awful, this place is awful.

  • Melissa M.

The fried haddock is beyond amazing! I also crave their buffalo chicken dip! Very big menu with a wide variety.

    (5)
  • Diana S.

Pretty damn busy on a Wednesday maybe because they had a special on lobster. I should have ordered the lobster because the burger had no flavor at all. We did order the meat lover pizza which I liked a lot. Beer was cold. Staff was a little slow, but like I said they were busy. They give you lots and lots of choices on the menu. From sea food to Irish food. Which I thought was a little strange.

If you are in Saint Augustine Beach for vacation, spend your dollars somewhere else. We had dinner here a couple days ago and wasted our money. It started with the hostess who was very unpleasant and we actually watched her seat other folks and she treated everybody the same. My wife order a dinner salad and she was happy with it. I ordered the haddock with fries and while it tasted pretty good, both were barely warm, so it obviously sat for a while before the waitress brought it. I won't go back.

Just had a wonderful experience Colleen was our waitress and she was great. We had 5 appetizers and drinks. The ahi tuna wontons and the smoked fish were he bomb. Too bad the gators couldn't play

We stay at Beacher's Lodge which is 2 miles South of Red Frog McToads. Like others have said - we too passed this place many times. Last Friday, we arrived too early for our room, so we stopped here for a late lunch. We are very glad we did! We sat at the bar & had quick, friendly service. Ordered a Killian's Red on draft & one of their Martinis. We split the seafood queso. It comes with 3 soft pretzel bread sticks & they were really good & paired great with the queso. I am not a pico de gallo fan, so next time, we would get that on the side, but the seafood queso was super tasty. I had the bangers & mash which comes with their fried onion strings. They were good, but I would have liked them cooked longer. They give you a ton of them. My wife had the fish tacos and really enjoyed them with the leftover seafood queso. We WILL be back the next time we visit there. Just wish they had a happy hour on the weekends.

Typical bar food. Nice sports atmosphere with a lot of TV's. Trivia night's terrific. Standard fare but well prepared. Place for a good time.

    (4)
  • Danielle S.

Been here several times- always good service and the food is standard bar food. Sometimes a small wait but they keep it moving well, food is always good. There isn't anything "amazing" on the menu but its all good; I've had several entrees.

We stopped here for breakfast, having passed it many times on our way to Oasis. Decided to try it out. Breakfast itself was good. We both had omelettes, the hash brown casserole, and a biscuit. Hash brown casserole was a nice change for a side. The reason for only 3 stars: the service. Wait staff was not attentive, we waited longer than we should have to get our bill. We'll go back to Oasis from now on where service is always attentive and with a smile.

  • B K.

Alligator was dry and tasteless. The rest of the food was nothing to write home about. I would say decent and edible, but I won't go back. It's a shame. The restaurant is in a great location. But the menu is a huge mess of everything, and it seems they don't really have a specialty. The service was slow and the waitress didn't really check to make sure we were good to go. Over all, very disappointed that we chose here to eat of all the places that were between St. Augustine and Palm Coast.

I'm surprised I like this place as I usually despise "sports bars" and the knotheaded frat boy crowd they attract. But the chow is good and the place quieter and more civilized than I expected. My wife and I are very sensitive to overly salted food and the food here, IOE, doesn't suffer from that. Beef sandwiches are nice as are the beef short ribs. Bangers and mash have solid spuds and proper tasting sausage, like the Irish sausage my mother bought in Chicago when I was a kid. The pork tenderloin sandwich is excellent and would pass muster in rural Illinois, that's high praise. The fries are lousy though, frozen out of the bag, like Ora-Idas. These guys have no respect for the fried potato and right down the road at Napoli you can get fresh cut fries as good as any on the planet. If they got their potato act together I'd rate them another star.

  • Lauren B.

Stopped for late lunch, my son wanted mahi so after realizing there was only about a $.50 difference in the sandwich and the dinner, I let him get the dinner. Both were in the $13 range which is ridiculous for a sandwich around these parts good seafood does not have to be expensive. Daughter ordered fried shrimp basket we were to share. There were eight tiny little shrimp smothered in tons of greasy batter, so greasy that I wouldn't let her eat it for fear of stomach ache. I found it to be so so food, boring atmosphere, and crazy pricing. Never again.

Nice place, friendly and good food. We had the peel & eat shrimp, very good. Had the crab cakes, excellent !!!!! My husband had the shrimp teriyaki and was also very good. We'll be coming back and trying breakfast.

Great atmosphere. Great service. The wraps are big And yummy (had the Asian wrap and bacon wrap). The fries are also good. Great prices. Definitely recommend as a good reliable island spot. And a huge menu.

Meh. It's hard to figure out what this place is trying to accomplish. The name and logo suggest it is a fun, kind of loud, bar type place, perfect for a laid back dinner on a Florida vacation. When you get inside you will find nothing more than a sports bar. A sports bar playing the Beatles softly in the background... They have a varied assortment of foods from lobster, to burgers, to fajitas, suggesting they don't specialize in anything I think we got sucked in by the name of the place and the promise of a lobster special on Wednesday nights. Turns out the special price is for just the (kind of rubbery) lobster and a tiny brown n serve type roll. You have to pay extra for any sides you want. The drinks we got were poorly mixed. The side salads were tiny. Everything is served on melamine type plasticky dinnerware. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because I did like my St. Augustine Pasta with shrimp. That came with some tasty garlic bread. This place would be fine for locals who have the opportunity to try new places on free nights. It would also be fine for sports lovers when games are on...tons of TVs. But for all of my fellow out-of-towners, do NOT waste a precious vacation meal here.

I would like to rate this place separate between food and service. The food was very good. It probably would have been much better if it were hot. We had to wait for a very long time with no drink refills for our food. The place was only about 25% full. When a different server came by to check on us, she went back and "lo and behold" out came our food. Now it was cold. We spent over 1 hour there waiting on salads and burgers. So as long as you are not in a hurry and like cold food, the food was quite tasty.

    (2)
  • Howard D.

Ordered the McToads Reuben, thought it was good, but not signature (as noted on their menu). Service was a bit slow, but there was 8 of us and we came an hour before close on a wednesday so given the benefit of the doubt, most of the crew were probably sent home. Drink refills were very slow to nonexistent.

I have only been here two times, but both times have gotten the same thing. The fried pork tenderloin sandwhich is to die for! It is huge, so bring an appetite.

  • John H.

Yum! Great breakfast... so good we went back the next day! I went for the omelet both days.. bacon and cheddar. Was awesome! Very good hashbrowns. Decor is "sports bar", which made for interesting stuff to look at while we waited and dined. Kid friendly both mornings.

Great food! Went several times this week. From breakfast to dinner, great service and top notch food. Hard to pick off the menu because so many great choices!!

Great drinks but the food is terrible. So salty it was not edible. I never say anything if food isn't good so this was really bad. Wait staff was nice and very accommodating about discounting dinner...

Passed this place 100s of times when it was known as Finnegan's Wake. But today is Tuesday and the Kids Eat Free on Tuesday sign caught my eye so after passing it for the 101st time, we turned around. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door to find a bright an bustling restaurant filled with what appeared to be lots of happy diners and if course, lots of kids. The right side of the place is the pub side and the left side is the grub side. I can see 16 flat panel TVs from my seat and '80s pop music is at an enjoyable level. Menu is nice. I like lots of stuff on it an I'm a picky eater. I've ordered the fried seafood basket and hubby ordered a basic burger. Daughter went crazy and ordered chicken nuggets. About a 20 minute wait for food, but they were busy and the time did go quickly. The food was exactly what I expected. The chicken nuggets for the child were real chicken breast pieces. I'm glad we found this place. It had a casual and comfortable atmosphere and the food was good. We will be back.

We had lunch and breakfast here. For lunch we tried the tenderloin sandwich which was very good and the philly cheese steak pizza was perfect, loved the thin crust. For breakfast I had the home made hash w/eggs (so hard to find home made hash its usually from a can.) The hash was yummy and the home fries were very good, the DH had the eggs beni and it was good too. Great prices and friendly staff. We will be back.

So upset. They no longer have what I loved most. The pork shanks. Please bring them back.

  • Laura M.

My husband and I went here for breakfast, we ordered an omelet each and a frozen latte each and the bill was almost $40. The lattes were $6.99 each and were very weak and barely sweet. The server was kind enough to remove one of the lattes, since I didn't drink mine and I complained about the fact that the price should have been posted if they wanted to charge seven dollars per coffee. But we won't be back, because our entire plates were tasteless and bland. My husband was shocked to see me salt my food, since I never ever do. Everything cooked just fine, would have been great if it was seasoned correctly.

Nice place to watch the game the food was decent enough staff was very friendly. We watch the game and had some wings, hamburger. I've been there once before with my family and we tried the pork and the lamb. And it was all very good. Definitely a place you'd wanna stop in and check out.

I was impressed by the food but the service was awful. Our waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time and the place wasn't that busy. I'll try anything twice though, so I'll give it one more shot before I call it a DUD!

. . . disappointed, arrived in St. Augustine yesterday for a week get away from the cold and snow of our Pennsylvania home, and read the local propaganda about Red Frog & McToad's; nice place, sports bar, . . . we're seated and given menus, but when servers continued to pass us by (Sunday lunch, seemed not to be too busy!) we got up and left after 16 minutes - had no draft beverage nor any purported Irish or advertised fare (never actually waited on, although others beside and across were) . . . off our list, and we have no intention of providing a second chance; notwithstanding, hope all have a better experience!

I did expect better. As a sports bar it is first rate with about 20 flat screen tvs. However, the food is ok at best. I have been there two times and I probably will not return for food.

  • Rick S.

Had crab cake app and it was good. Lots of real crab in it. I ate the 1/2# western burger with jalapeños added. It was pretty good (as expected for bar food). Wife had the mahi mahi wrap and loved it. Dad had Philly chicken salad (cheese, French fries and chicken) he liked it. Mom had fried chicken sandwich and liked it also. Service was excellent. Waitress was very young but eager to please in anyway. 4 meals with one app and 4 waters to drink = $51. Good price considering size of portions. I was only one to finish entire meal but I'm 6'7". Would definitely eat here again.

  • Ed B.

Went for happy hour and it was dead. Granted it was a week day in early September but still... Just us and a table of old men. Had one beer and left ($1.75 beer isn't bad) so I can't attest to the food but the menu looked extensive. The decor is cheap and cheesy. Looks like a good place to watch the game but it wasn't the beachy atmosphere we were looking for. Might go back for food.

Service was GREAT!! Had the crab cakes and coconut shrimp both were exellent. A great place for the money! I recommend it.
